Answers

  1. Is the schedule of sessions available online? Yes, the tentative schedule of sessions is now available on the program page. Please follow the Tentative Schedule link on the sidebar.
  2. Can I still submit a proposal for my presentation? The deadline for submitting proposals for the 2007 Symposium was January 31, 2007. The selection process has been completed, and additional proposals cannot be accepted.
  3. Will there be a published proceedings? At this point, we do not have a plan to publish proceedings from the 2007 Symposium. If you would like to have your paper published in a print medium, please feel free to send them to appropriate journals.
  4. What AV equipment will be available for presentations? AV equipment available in most rooms include: Vide projectors, overhead camera (OHC, for projecting documents), DVD/CD players, VHS video players. Wireless/wired LAN access will not be available. If you are planning to use PowerPoint, please bring your own computer and a flash media for backup.
  5. Where can I find papers from past Symposia? Although the Symposium does not publish proceedings, some of the presentations have been included in edited collections and special journal issues. For a list of publications related to the Symposium, please click HERE.

  8. How can I find someone to share a hotel room with? If you need someone to share a room to reduce the cost of attending the symposium, please encourage a colleague who might also be interested in second language writing to attend the Symposium with you. You can also use the SSLWLIST to identify a roommate.
  9. I have submitted my fax hotel reservation form but have not received the confirmation. What should I do? Please allow at least two weeks before you receive your confirmation. If you do not hear from the hotel within two weeks, please contact .
  10. Do you have any suggestions for making an effective presentation? For presentation tips, please see information for presenters.
  11. Will I be able to access the Internet at the convention site? Presenters and participants will be able to check webmail and surf the web in a computer room on the fourth floor. Wireless connection is also available in the hallway. However, the signal does not reach the presentation area, so please do not count on using the Internet for your presentation.
